Weekly Devotional 2-27-17 A Holy Pursuit

Many churches of our day seem to be moving away from proclaiming the Word of God as their means of reaching people for Him. Much is preached about God’s love, but little is said about His holiness. Health and wealth messages have replaced preaching about the sovereignty of God, the depravity of man and mans need to repent of his sin. Praise songs that speak about a person’s commitment to God have replaced hymns that speak about God’s commitment to man. Many Sunday school teachers teach lessons about the faith of certain Old Testament persons, but do not explain from whence came their faith. Participants leave these classes believing that there was something special about these persons or that there was a goodness in them that is not in others.
It must be asked, have these above mentioned things led people to a truer commitment to God or have they brought about a deeper spiritual confusion in those who are as of yet unregenerate, or even in those who are Christian? Look around, the world is in chaos as is the professed church.

We of “Transforming Power; The Work of God on Behalf of Man” and many others, believe that if the church is to have an impact on the world of our day it needs (and we need) to hold firm to the fundamentals of the Word of God. Not only hold firm, but proclaim them from the roof tops; and even beyond that, we must live that which we proclaim.
