Weekly Devotional 3-27-17 Adam’s Garden Experience

From Genesis 1:1 we read that In the beginning of time God created the heavens and the earth. As we continue reading the creation account in Genesis 1:3-25, we find that before He created man, which was His primary purpose, God created all that was necessary to sustain man. Not only Did God create that which was necessary to sustain man, but also that which would be pleasing and satisfying to man. All that He created, by His own evaluation, was good, created in Godly perfection. In Godly perfection qualifies that there was nothing that was not thought of or left to be added later. It was a perfect creation. Then on the sixth day God said, “26 Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Many have proffered what being created in the image of God meant or means, at the least as God had dominion over His creation, so Adam was given dominion on the earth. As nothing hindered God’s dominion nothing hindered Adam’s dominion. God is a God of care, compassion and love. Adam was given a nature of care, compassion and love. God is a God of free will and Adam was created with a free will, a freedom of choice.
Beyond these likenesses of God, Adam was endowed with the ability to communicate with God by a spiritual nature, a nature that desired fellowship and communication with God. In an intimate relationship with God they often walked and talked in the garden (see Genesis 3:8). God gave Adam a help meet or a soul mate unlike all other creatures; a soul mate created from his own body, with like attributes and harmonious one with the other.

The garden was a place of perfection and everything had been created for Adam and his soul mate Eve for their benefit and enjoyment. What a place it must have been!
