Weekly Devotional 8-25-25 / Five Testimonials of God’s Reality
All persons with the ability to reason have some awareness of God. That is, they have the conviction that there is an entity to whom they owe their being, and whether they admit it or not, they have a responsibility to Him. Many of course will argue against this truth, but it is an argument they cannot defend. Ask the denier to prove there is no God, and he cannot. And I would offer, if the denier cannot prove there is no God it would be wise for him to consider the reality of God.
God after all has not left Himself without testimony, He speaks to man in at least five ways. First, there is the innate. God has given to every person enough spiritual light to know of His being (John 1:6-9). Second, He has given man the deduction of reason – conclusions arrived at by the process of generalizations (Romans 1:19-20). Third, He has given man supernatural revelation (John 16:7-11). Fourth, there is the testimony of Israel’s continued existence. What other nation exists today that was divided by civil war, lost its land to the Assyrians and the Babylonians. Then controlled for twenty-six hundred plus years by the succeeding world powers of Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome? None! They returned to the Land in 1948 and became a recognized country once again in 1948. Since that time, she has defeated several enemies who have sought to annihilate her. Much of the world today stands against Israel, but she exists and will always exist. Many passages testify of God’s commitment to that reality. (Consider for instance; Deuteronomy 30:1-2; Jeremiah 31:31-37 and Daniel 12:1).
Fifth, God has given testimony of His reality through the church, birthed by His Spirit approximately two thousand years ago (Acts 2). Jesus, (God in Human flesh) said that He would build His church and that not even the gates of Hell would prevail against it (Matthew 16:18) and it has not. Satan and unregenerate man attempted to destroy Jesus by murdering Him, but He rose from the dead and now dwells in the midst of His church by His Spirit. Not being able to eliminate Jesus Satan and unregenerate men have tried to destroy His church, but they have failed and will continue to fail until such time that the Lord takes her to be safely with Him forever.
Hopefully these five testimonies have convinced all seekers of the reality of God or at least will prompt them to further investigate further. May we who accept the reality of God be moved to an ever-increasing commitment to Him and his anointed, Jesus Christ.
