7-20-24 Kim Update

Dear Steve,

Greetings in Jesus’ Name! It was always a blessing to talk to you on viber or to read your devotional insights. Thank you very much for working really hard spiritually and physically, so that we would be more established in the Lord and more effective for the Lord even in Myanmar. Your generosity has been beyond measure.

We are doing well in the midst of restless and chaotic situations, reduced humanitarian access, deepening poverty, and devastating natural disasters. The Lord’s protection has been amazingly manifested. God is in control. We press on in Jesus’ name.

Tedim is not yet safe, still marked as a dangerous combat zone. Most residents are still away, taking refuge in Kalaymyo or by the India-Myanmar border. My parents are still living with bro Dong’s family. They are thinking of going back home to harvest grapes, but it’s not yet safe. Pastor Kap’s school is closed. Praise the Lord it was not bombed. He and his wife are currently living in Yangon. The Lord has entrusted us with 95 Seminary students and 50 plus Liannu’s homeschooled kids this 2024-2025 academic year. Other ministries such as writing, preaching and teaching via social media, conference, missionary training, and church planting are going well. Two new books are ready for publication whenever the Lord provides funds. Many pastors and ministers are eagerly waiting. God works in mysterious ways.

As of today, they said over 3 million people have been displaced, a few hundred thousands have fled to the neighbouring countries as refugees, and ten thousands imprisoned or killed. Many towns big and small have been evacuated due to airstrikes and armed clashes. It’s not easy to run away from the airstrikes and firings from the ones paid to protect you (the Military force). Many villages and towns have been burned down into ashes, of which about 90 households of the same faith (EBC members) had to watch the smoke from the burning of their houses from a distance. Steve, some towns or villages that you saw when you came are no more now. Pastor Hau Meng and his wife by the broken bridge and the small church building, remember?, everything in that village had been wiped out.

We thanked God for God’s people like you for helping us distribute staple food for many refugees in the last two months. So far, God has enabled us to distribute some 15,000 kgs of rice, beans, cooking oil, soups, and clothing’s, etc. We were able to help those whose houses were burned down, especially our brethren in Christ, pregnant women, the elderly, and the hospitalized refugees and so on. We were able to do this because you prayed for us and gave to us generously. Thank you very much. God bless you richly.
