Weekly Devotional 4-29-13 Five Testimonials of God’s Reality
All persons with the ability to reason have some awareness of God. That is, they have the conviction that there is an entity to whom they owe their being, and whether they admit or not, they are responsible to it. Many of course will argue against this truth, but it is an argument they cannot defend. Ask the denier to prove there is no God and he cannot. And, I would offer, if the denier cannot prove there is no God it would be wise for him to consider the reality of God.
God has not left Himself without testimony for He speaks to man in at least five ways. First, there is the innate. God has given to every person born enough spiritual light to know of His being (John 1:6-9). Second, He has given man the deduction of reason, a conclusion arrived at by a process of generalization (Romans 1:19-20). Third, He has given man supernatural revelation (John 16:7-11). Fourth, there is the testimony of Israel’s continued existence. What other nation exists today that was divided by civil war, lost its land to a foreign entity (Semitic-Babylon), controlled by several succeeding Gentile world powers for approximately twenty six hundred years (including Babylon) and returning to and possessing that land (at least part of it) in 1948? Since that time she has defeated several enemies who have sought to annihilate her. Much of the world today even stands against her.
Finally, God has given testimony of His reality through the church, birthed by His Spirit approximately two thousand years ago (Acts 2). Jesus, (God in Human flesh) said that He would build His church and that not even the gates of Hell would prevail against it; and it has not. Satan and unregenerate man attempted to destroy Jesus by murdering Him, but He rose from the dead and now dwells in the midst of His church by His Spirit. Since the church began, Satan and unregenerate men have tried to destroy it but they have failed and will continue to fail until such time that the Lord takes her to be safely with Him forever.
Whoever looks into these testimonies will not be disappointed!
