Anguish in Myanmar

Dear co-worker,

Greetings from Myanmar, the bloody country since February first
week! God keeps us safe and provides us all our needs through
people like you. Thank you very much. May God continue to
meet your needs that your joy may be full in Christ Jesus for the
glory of God.
As you know, our current situation is still horrible. About 730
people have been brutally killed or shot down, most of them right
at the head in just 75 days. 4000 plus people are being arrested
and about 700 are issued arrest warrants. There are checkpoints
everywhere in the cities. They would stop us/car/motorcycle and
check our vehicles, our phones, our photos, and our facebook
accounts. If they found us sharing or posting any news related to 2
the coup, they would arrest us. If they don’t find any, they will
still take our phones; if asked back, they threaten us with their
guns and physically hurt us. So, a lot of people leave their phones
at home and now they are charging 30,000MMK for not carrying
a phone. We hear gun fires and explosions almost everyday. We
don’t know how long this will go on. The only thing I can think
of now is that had they known Jesus they would never do all these
things.
Seven Seminary students are still on campus. The rest have made
it home. They are doing well. Two believing families who had to
hide from the coup were with us for about three weeks. They have
now returned to their home safely.
We hardly go outside our apartment except for buying food or
preaching/teaching or distributing food for the hungry. We do it
under the radar. We are finishing off distributing 200 rice bags in
three major places. There is great joy in seeing them receive food
from us. More than 200 hungry families have got food. Praise the
Lord. The next project is to feed more hungry believing
brothers/sisters 300 rice bags. We are praying for the Lord’s
provision for this project. A bag of rice (50 kgs) costs $38. So
300×30=$11,400 would be enough to buy 300 rice bags. These
believing brothers and sisters have been directly or indirectly
affected by the atrocities of the military coup.
We thank God our internet wifi still works, though most
connections have been cut off. We can do our Bible Translation
workshops via ZOOM. Besides, our ZOOM Bible Studies can go
on. Of course, most of those who joined us couldn’t make it
anymore due to the limitation of the internet. Though we can’t 3
speed up the gospel works as we desire, we can still do a lot.
Thank God for all these opportunities.
My beloved co-worker, knowing that you are always there for us
has strengthened us a lot. Thank you very much for your tireless
generosity. We are so blessed to stand and strive together with
you for the furtherance of the gospel in Myanmar.
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need
be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness
of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,
though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory
at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1Pet 1:6-7).
Because He lives,
Kim

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present
you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to
the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory,
majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and
forever. Amen. Jude 24-25
