Weekly Devotional 6-23-14 Moon Rocks

The Scranton Times on Friday, June 6, 2014, carried an article entitled, “Moon Rocks Support Earth Collision Theory,” published by Journal Science which claims that a new study strengthens the notion that our moon was created by a collision between earth and a planet sized object some 4.5 billion years ago.
The article went on to say, “German scientists studied moon rocks gathered by astronauts a half-century ago in the Apollo 11, 12, and 16 missions. They analyzed various kinds of oxygen atoms and found the moon rocks have a different make up than Earth rocks do. That fits with the idea that the moon would contain material from the object that struck Earth. The results also suggest that the moon may be a 50-50 mix of material from this object and from Earth.”

I for one look no further than God’s word for an explanation for such things. “14Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so. 16Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19So the evening and the morning were the fourth day” (Genesis 1:14-19 NKJV).

Those who deny that God created the heavens and earth and all that therein is, as the writer of the above article and the German scientists seemingly do, possibly also deny the existence of God. If such should be true, it perhaps would be wise for them to spend as much time examining the Word of God as they do in speculating about origins. Denying that God exists is tantamount to denying His right to being worshipped and served; the reason for man’s being. The end of all such persons will be an eternity out of the presence of the God they denied. An eternity where there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth,” an eternal torment.
The God of the Bible is a God that is a “rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 1:6b) and is a God “that so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that who-so-ever comes to believe in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Believe it or not, there was a Creator, the Creator of all that exists.
