Devocional semanal 6-14-21
El propósito de Dios dejándonos en el mundo después de la salvación
Comenzamos el devocional de esta semana leyendo Juan 17:1-23. “1Estas cosas habló Jesús, y levantando los ojos al cielo, dijo: Padre, la hora ha llegado; glorifica a tu Hijo, para que también tu Hijo te glorifique a ti;2 como le has dado potestad sobre toda carne, para que dé vida eterna a todos los que le diste. 3 Y esta es la vida eterna: que te conozcan a ti, el único Dios verdadero, y a Jesucristo, a quien has enviado.4 Yo te he glorificado en la tierra; he acabado la obra que me diste que hiciese. 5 Ahora pues, Padre, glorifícame tú al lado tuyo, con aquella gloria que tuve contigo antes que el mundo fuese.
6 He manifestado tu nombre a los hombres que del mundo me diste; tuyos eran, y me los diste, y han guardado tu palabra. 7 Ahora han conocido que todas las cosas que me has dado, proceden de ti; 8 porque las palabras que me diste, les he dado; y ellos las recibieron, y han conocido verdaderamente que salí de ti, y han creído que tú me enviaste.
9 Yo ruego por ellos; no ruego por el mundo, sino por los que me diste; porque tuyos son, 10 y todo lo mío es tuyo, y lo tuyo mío; y he sido glorificado en ellos. 11 Y ya no estoy en el mundo; mas éstos están en el mundo, y yo voy a ti. Padre santo, a los que me has dado, guárdalos en tu nombre, para que sean uno, así como nosotros. 12 Cuando estaba con ellos en el mundo, yo los guardaba en tu nombre; a los que me diste, yo los guardé, y ninguno de ellos se perdió, sino el hijo de perdición, para que la Escritura se cumpliese. 13 Pero ahora voy a ti; y hablo esto en el mundo, para que tengan mi gozo cumplido en sí mismos. 14 Yo les he dado tu palabra; y el mundo los aborreció, porque no son del mundo, como tampoco yo soy del mundo. 15 No ruego que los quites del mundo, sino que los guardes del mal. 16 No son del mundo, como tampoco yo soy del mundo. 17 Santifícalos en tu verdad; tu palabra es verdad. 18 Como tú me enviaste al mundo, así yo los he enviado al mundo. 19 Y por ellos yo me santifico a mí mismo, para que también ellos sean santificados en la verdad.
20 Mas no ruego solamente por éstos, sino también por los que han de creer en mí por la palabra de ellos, 21 para que todos sean uno; como tú, oh Padre, en mí, y yo en ti, que también ellos sean uno en nosotros; para que el mundo crea que tú me enviaste. 22 La gloria que me diste, yo les he dado, para que sean uno, así como nosotros somos uno. 23 Yo en ellos, y tú en mí, para que sean perfectos en unidad, para que el mundo conozca que tú me enviaste, y que los has amado a ellos como también a mí me has amado.
Algunos han preguntado cuando una persona se convierte en creyente, ¿por qué Dios no lo saca (o ella) de las miserias de este mundo y del cielo? La respuesta comienza a ser respondida en la cita anterior, especialmente en las palabras de Jesús del versículo 20. Él dijo, “Mas no ruego solamente por éstos, sino también por los que han de creer en mí por la palabra de ellos.” La salvación no era sólo para aquellos a quienes el Padre había dado a Jesús en Su primer advenimiento, sino a otros que llegarían a creer en Él por medio de su testimonio. Y no era sólo para aquellos de esa generación, sino para todas las generaciones que tienen éxito. Dios está en el proceso de poblar el cielo con los espíritus de las personas de cada generación que han llegado a conocer a Jesucristo como su salvación. Esto continuará hasta que se salve a cada persona que deba salvarse (Romanos 11:25).
El propósito para el once que Jesús abordó en Su oración era que fueran testigos (a los que se les dice) de Su misericordia y gracia. Este también es el propósito de toda persona a la que Dios salva. El apóstol Pablo lo dijo así, “11 Pues la Escritura dice: Todo aquel que en él creyere, no será avergonzado.12 Porque no hay diferencia entre judío y griego, pues el mismo que es Señor de todos, es rico para con todos los que le invocan;13 porque todo aquel que invocare el nombre del Señor, será salvo.14 ¿Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán sin haber quien les predique?15 ¿Y cómo predicarán si no fueren enviados? Como está escrito: !!Cuán hermosos son los pies de los que anuncian la paz, de los que anuncian buenas nuevas! (Romanos 10:11-15.
Dios se glorifica cuando una persona es salvada porque la salvación es de Su obra. El mensaje de Su gracia salvadora debe ser testificado por aquellos que han sido previamente salvos. Es Su obra continua, pero nuestro propósito, somos conductos de Su gracia.
Que cada uno de nosotros a quien Dios ya ha traído a Sí mismo aprecie cada vez más nuestra razón de ser dejados en el mundo, somos Sus testigos.

The Purpose of God Leaving us in The World After Salvation
We begin this week’s devotional by reading John 17:1-23. “1Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 5And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
6 I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. 8For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.
9 I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
20 I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me’” (John 17:1-23).
Some have asked when a person becomes a believer, why doesn’t God just take him (or her) out of the miseries of this world and into heaven? The answer begins to be answered in the above quotation, especially in Jesus’ words of verse 20. He said, “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.” Salvation was not only to be for those whom the Father had given to Jesus in His first advent, but to others that would come to believe in Him through their testimony. And it was not to be just those of that generation, but to all succeeding generations. God is in the process of populating heaven with the spirits of persons from each generation who have come to know Jesus Christ as their salvation. This will continue until each person who is to be saved is saved (Romans 11:25).
The purpose for the eleven that Jesus addressed in His prayer was for them to be witnesses (forth-tellers) of His mercy and grace. This too, is the purpose of every person whom God saves. The Apostle Paul put it this way, “11For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’ 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ 14How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!’ (Romans 10:11-15.
God is glorified when a person is saved because salvation is of His work. The message of His saving grace is to be testified of by those who have been previously saved. It is His continuous work, but our purpose, we are conduits of His grace.
May each of us whom God has already brought to Himself appreciate more and more our reason for being left in the world, we are His witnesses.
