Weekly Devotional 8-7-17 The Chip

On Wednesday 7-26-17 an article appeared in the Nation section of the Scranton Times with this heading, “Company to Implant Workers with Rice-Sized Micro-chips” followed by this text; “A Wisconsin company is offering to microchip its employees enabling them to open doors, log onto their computers and purchase break room snacks with a simple swipe of the hand.

Three Square Market also known as 32M, said more than 50 employees are voluntarily getting implants August 1st at what the company is calling a ‘chip party’ at its River Fall headquarters. The chips are the size of a grain of rice and are inserted underneath the skin between the thumb and forefinger using a syringe. The procedure takes a couple of seconds.

The technology is already available in Europe but company leaders say this is its first appearance in the U.S. They hope the $300 microchips can eventually be used on more than just snack machines—everything from air travel, public transit and storing medical information. ‘We want to be on the forefront of this. This is something that’s coming,’ said Curt Giles, president at 32M, which operates 2,000 self-checkout kiosks for companies in 20 countries.

While the technology has raised privacy concerns because of the potential to track a person’s whereabouts and purchases, officials at 32M said the data in the microchip is encrypted and does not use GPS. But a professor at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee said he worries about the potential for ‘function creep,’ where the stated purpose of a technology ends up spilling over into other uses, including surveillance.”

Great advances in technology have been, are, and will be beneficial to humanity, but many are, and will be, fraught with dangers. As the professor at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee said, these advances in technology such as the chip, may be abused to the detriment of man.

Jesus in His revelation of the last 7 years of this present dispensation gave John, His beloved apostle, this vision; “1Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” 5And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.” (Revelation chapter 13, NKJV).

Of course the chip that is being used in Europe, and will be implemented by Three Square Market, A.K.A. 32M, is not the exact device that will be introduced and demanded by the second beast of Revelation, but the 32M chip should alert every Christian to its potential. Never in the history of man has such technology existed. Could it be that we are rapidly approaching this 7 year period? Possibly. The great thing is that the church (born again believers) will have been caught up into heaven and will not experience the horribleness of these years. Jesus promised the church, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10).

I must write before closing that if you are not a true follower of Jesus Christ, you will be on earth when the Antichrist and His prophet are revealed. You will be subject to their demands; not a good situation! However, the good news is, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18)

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).

“1There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:1-11).

If you have not yet turned to Jesus for the forgiveness of your sin and restoration there is still time. Perhaps though, not much!
